On World No Tobacco Day 2014, the NGO Biofarm and the Centre de formation Chrétienne Biosystem (CFCB) launched a project to help tobacco growers in Madagascar grow alternatives such as organic geraniums and moringa. Organically grown geranium can fetch a price up to 15 times higher than tobacco. CFCB is planning to make essential oils from the substitute crops, thus providing a guaranteed market for the former tobacco farmers.
